Eureka Lightweighting Initiative is currently in the setup phase, aiming to provide options for long-term visibility of Lightweighting in Eureka, with the goal of acting as a starting point for future Eureka activities. Once finished, the Eureka Lightweighting Initiative eventually is envisioned to comprise of the following bodies:
- The Chairperson and Presidium of the Eureka Lightweighting Initiative
- The Office of the of the Eureka Lightweighting Initiative
- The Board of the Eureka Lightweighting Initiative
- The Support Group for Public Authorities
- The Support Group for Industry & Research

The Chairperson and Presidium of the Eureka Lightweighting Initiative
The Chairperson together with the supporting Presidium is head of the Office and the Eureka Lightweighting Initiative. Their task is to implement the strategy of the Board by creating awareness for Lightweighting, by reflecting and reporting on the Lightweighting landscape, by seeking cooperation with international programmes related to Lightweighting, by proposing and executing financial administration, and by ensuring high standards for all activities.
The Office of the of the Eureka Lightweighting Initiative
The Office manages the operative business including public relations, event management, data analytics. It supports all other bodies of the Eureka Lightweighting Initiative.
The Board of the Eureka Lightweighting Initiative
The Board is appointed by the General Assembly as executive body of the Eureka Lightweighting Initiative. It is responsible for defining the strategy and for deciding on its execution. The Board represents the Public Authorities and Industry & Research.
The Support Group for Public Authorities
The Support Group for Public Authorities provides guidance to the Board from the point of view of public auhorities. It keeps contact with public authorities and takes into account their strategic objectives when preparing board meetings and board decisions.
The Support Group for Industry & Research
The Support Group for Industry & Research provides guidance to the Board from the point of view of industry & research. It keeps contact with industry & research and takes into account their strategic objectives when preparing board meetings and board decisions.
The Technical Committee
The Technical Committee is assigned by the Board to provide expertise and support decisions on operational details made by other bodies. This may include the definition of technological topics of interest, selection of pitches for events, ranking of projects and success stories, suggestion of project and collaboration ideas, and the preparation of proposal checks & project reviews.
The General Assembly
The General Assemply consists of the non-voting members Chairperson and Presidium, and the voting members: the current Board, the Support Group for Public Authorities, and Support Group for Industry & Research.
